5 Real Ways to Find Wedding Inspiration That Actually Feels Like You

If you’re knee-deep in Pinterest boards, Instagram screenshots, and saved reels... and yet somehow still feel more confused than when you started, you’re not alone.

Wedding inspiration is everywhere, yet finding something that feels personal and true to you? That’s a little harder.

Here’s how I recommend gently unearthing ideas that feel beautifully aligned with your story, style, and season.

1. Look to the Landscape

Start where you are, or where you’re getting married. What does the venue’s setting feel like? Is it windswept and rugged, with wild hedgerows and old stone walls? Or soft and romantic, with rose gardens and rolling hills?

The landscape offers quiet, natural cues that help you lean into colour palettes and textures that feel timeless and grounded. As a florist deeply inspired by nature, this is always my first touchstone when designing flowers.  I often find this is a calming time as well, especially when you might be feeling overwhelmed.

2. Think About What You Already Love

Rather than chasing trends, come back to what you’re drawn to in your everyday life: the clothes you wear, the interiors you pin, the places you travel to again and again. If your home is full of linen, oak, and ceramics, that earthy simplicity can translate beautifully into your table styling. If you love classic tailoring and cashmere, maybe your flowers are elegant, structured, and timeless.  Think about where you like to eat, how do they style their tables, what linens do they use or glassware.  Randomly, I was doing a vision board for my own branding and I was pinning french soaps - so really it’s whatever you find beautiful.  We can then interpret and weave that inot your floral designs.

This is where the magic happens, when a wedding feels like your style, not someone else's idea of it.

3. Talk to Your Suppliers Early

Your florist, stylist, or planner can help filter all your scattered ideas into something cohesive. One of my favourite parts of the design process is taking a few saved images and helping my couples shape a floral vision that sings. You don’t need a full moodboard or a clear brief to get started, just a feeling, a favourite flower, or a season you love.

4. Visit Your Venue More Than Once

Standing in the space where your day will unfold changes everything. You start to see where the light falls, where flowers might naturally frame a moment, and how the whole space flows. At places like Holesfoot or Scarlet Hall, I often find the best floral ideas come when we’re walking the grounds together.  If you’re super organised try and visit your venue around a year befire your wedding day.  This will give you an idea of what it will look like for you, what flowers are growing in the gardens and even what time the sun sets.  Small details that can be considered for your day to make it even more magical

5. Give Yourself Breathing Room

This one’s often overlooked: step away from social media now and then. Let your imagination come alive on a countryside walk or with a good magazine and a quiet cup of tea. The best inspiration often comes when you're not searching at all.
