Choosing and Understanding Wedding Flowers

Your wedding flowers set the tone for your entire day, from romantic bouquets to show-stopping installations. For couples just beginning their planning journey, understanding what’s possible and how to choose flowers can feel overwhelming.

1. What wedding flowers do I need?

Most weddings include a bridal bouquet, bridesmaids’ bouquets, buttonholes & corsages, ceremony arrangements (aisle, altar, entrances), reception tablescapes, and optional extras such as flower crowns or statement installations.  Check out a more detailed blog on this here. We are a full service wedding flower business and offer all of the above, intsallations and statement pieces are what we have become know for.

2. How long will my wedding flowers last?

Wedding flowers are different to retail flowers and supermarket flowers, they are designed to be perfectly in bloom for your day, often meaning we order then=m in stages over the course of a week to ensure they are at their peak. With expert preparation, and proper hydration, flowers stay fresh and beautiful from your ceremony to the evening reception.

3. Will wedding flowers last overnight?

Many flowers last overnight if stored properly, but delicate blooms like anemones or ranunculus are best enjoyed on the wedding day. We will bunch up all the good flowers the day after your event, with a good trim and some lovely fresh water they will last for another week. Please note, flowers for events are often put under extreme conditions, heat and bright loight for example.

4. What wedding flower elements do you provide?

As a full-service florist we provide bridal and bridesmaids’ bouquets, buttonholes, corsages, ceremony and reception arrangements, statement installations, flower crowns, and day-of management including repurposing flowers.  As well as site visits, design proposals and hands on guidance throughout your wedding planning journey.

5. Why don’t I need to know about flowers to have amazing wedding flowers?

We translate your vision, colours, style, atmosphere into luxurious floral designs. You don’t need to memorise flower names or availability.  You don’t have to have an organised pinterest board or have all your ducks in a row.  Often we will go through your inspirational images, listen to what you want and create a beautiful cohesive design.

6. How do I choose the right flowers for my wedding?

Choosing flowers comes down to your style, colour palette, and the season. We consider your venue and personal taste to create natural, effortless designs.  We also think about the atmosphere for your day.  Your flowers set the tone of how you want the day to feel.

7. Can you create a cohesive look across bouquets, ceremony, and tables?

Yes. Every element can be designed to complement each other, creating a seamless and luxurious feel across your wedding day.  

8. Do you provide seasonal flowers only, or can you source specific blooms?

Seasonal blooms are fresher and more sustainable, but specific flowers can often be sourced. I use a mix of British and Dutch flowers in all my work.  During the winter we rely more heavily on Dutch imports.

9. Can we mix real and artificial flowers?

This is not something I offer, I work with fresh flowers only and all their perfect imperfections, the wiggly bits and the dancing fleurs.
